It was crazy how windy it was.  Some locals told me that in the winter it routinely gets down to -40F.  It&#8217;s not a place I would live, but Rapid City is a nice place and southwestern South Dakota is very interesting.  The Badlands were cool, but the Bubonic plague is flourishing there; originally just infecting prairie dogs, but now it&#8217;s spread to several other animals, and humans can catch it.
