A lot of this can be traced back to a book I read about national parks during the Covid pandemic. Specifically, a passage about how when Glacier NP was added as a national park there were 300 something glaciers, and when the book was written in 2016 there were 30. I decided I needed to go see those glaciers. The book also talked a lot about Acadia. I honestly don’t even remember what it said about it, but I remember that after reading that book I wanted to go to Glacier, Yellowstone, and Acadia more than any other parks.
Acadia did not disappoint. The color of the water was a deeper blue than I have ever seen before. There are miles of rocky shoreline and a few sand beaches. There are mountains to climb and beautiful lakes to jump in to cool down. I saw whales, beavers, and an enormous jellyfish. All the while staying in Bar Harbor which is worth checking out as well. I have a strong desire to buy a sailboat and travel around the world, and if I did, I would definitely spend a summer in Maine.
